RESEARCH in Motion (RIM) has finally launched their homemade tablet computer as well. A device that offers the ability to surf in cyberspace, high-performance multitasking and multimedia was named the BlackBerry Playbook.
RIM”tablet computer designed with the best class in the industry, namely in terms of design and features. The device also comes with the operating system the strongest in the world,’’said President and Co-CEO of Research in Motion’s Mike Lazaridis in a written press release on Monday (27 / 9).

After a delay, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon finally ready to ship. Processor chipset which is claimed to have the fastest ability to smartphones and tablet computers is scheduled to slide this end of the year 2010. Vice President of Product Management Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, said Mark Frankel, Snapdragon QSD8672 dual-core processors will be shipped with the CPU (Central Processing Unit) core running at capacity up to 1.5 GHz.
“This chip can be used to smartphones, tablets and cheap laptop (netbook),” Frankel said as quoted from PC World.
Described by him, this chip is the latest series of dual-core chip Snapdragon. Unlike the MSM8660 series which began shipping in the second quarter, 8672 is claimed to have a faster processor. 8672 is the processor in the chip design is made using Arm and 45-nanometer process. Series 8672 has a feature called voltage scaling individual so that each CPU can be ‘locked’ independently from each other. Creator of the BlackBerry smartphone, Research In Motion (RIM) is now working on a tablet, which is planned to be named BlackPad or Cobalt. Device BlackPad has a 8.9 inch, which turned out to form smaller and thinner than Apple iPad. Tablet PC or BlackBerry Cobalt BlackPad will also support the BlackBerry operating system OS. Cobalt or BlackPad BlackBerry hardware will be officially launched in 2011. Devices would also be equipped with 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi and can sync with a BlackBerry smartphone. That said, RIM has targeted emergence of these tablets at the end of 2010. An analyst at Rodman & Renshaw, Ashok Kumar said, RIM is currently working on a tablet PC with a 7-inch touch screen and powered by a 1 GHz processor from Marvel.
